Halloween has to be one of the most fun celebrations around the world. Its unique mix of the spooky and the fun create a party atmosphere like no other. Celebrating Halloween with a party is a great way to ensure that a good time is had by all….well as long as you take the time to plan a scary awesome event, anyway…
Set the Scene
Sure, you could throw a Halloween party without the decorations, but it wouldn’t be much of a party, would it? Decorating is the best way to give your Halloween party the scary tone you’re after. A good way to do this is by going for the classic “haunted house” look with lots of cobwebs, pictures with moving eyes, spooky books and of course, lots of jump scare props. For the lighting, go with candles in hurricane lamps or fairy lights that will create a twilight atmosphere.
Stock Up On Candy
Okay, so you may be throwing a Halloween party for the adults this autumn, but that doesn’t mean that you should forgo the candy. Being able to eat obscene amounts of sugary goodness is one of the best things about Halloween! So be sure to buy a wide range of candy bars and treats and strategically place them around the venue, ideally in witches’ cauldron serving bowls!
Serious Snacks
As well as candy, you’re going to want to stock up on lots of tasty snacks to keep your guests happy. It’s good to choose more grown-up offerings like the gourmet pretzels at esprovisions as a contrast to the sweet and child-like candy. Punch is also essential and it should have some spooky accompaniments. Fill the bowl with spider-shaped ice cubes or pour water into a glove before freezing it, so that when you place it in the center of the punch bowl, it’ll look like a zombie hand emerging from asea of blood – get creative!
Put Together the Perfect Playlist
No decent Halloween party would be complete without a spooky playlist. Spotify has some ready-made ones if you’re in a rush, but it’s always fun putting together your own by mixing Halloween classics like The Monster Mash with spooky movie soundtracks, blaring rock songs and maybe even a few cheesy pop classics. Mix it up and everyone will have a great time.
Carve Pumpkins
Give your guests something to do by buying a whole bunch of pumpkins and carving kits. Then award a prize for the scariest carved pumpkin. You can print out templates of Freddy Krueger and other spooky characters if you want to do some serious carving, or go for the best ad-libed design depending on how involved you want the party activity to be.
Ouija Boards and Tarot Cards
If you aren’t opposed to that kind of thing, setting up aouija board and a pack of tarot cards can add to the spooky atmosphere and give your guests a couple of truly spooky activities to sink their teeth into.
Make this Halloween one of the most memorable!
