If you’re craving sugar, there could be a number of reasons for this. It may be your time of the month, you may not have eaten enough satiating foods today, or you may simply have a huge sweet tooth. Whatever your reason for wanting to gorge on a whole cake or eat a family pack of chocolate bars to yourself, the ideas here will help you. Take a look and you’ll feel better in no time:
Practice Allowing Yourself A Little Of What You Fancy
Depriving yourself and being too strict will always create cravings. You crave what you can’t have. If you really want a biscuit but ban yourself from them, it’s more likely you’ll end up eating the whole packet later on. However, if you want a biscuit, have a biscuit, and eat it slowly, it’s less likely you’re going to eat the whole pack. It’s all about having a healthy mindset. Moderation is key. When you ban and cut out foods, it’s unlikely to last. Plus, what’s the point if you can’t eat foods you like?
Fruit And Chocolate
Let’s say you’re simply looking for a healthier way to satisfy your sweet tooth. How about chocolate covered strawberries? Chocolate covered strawberries are delicious, and you’ll get one of your 5 a day along with a chocolate hit. You can even do this with banana, or other fruits you fancy.
Create Your Own Fruit And Nut Mix
Fruit and nut mixes can be yummy, but they can also be full of rubbish if you buy the wrong kind. Frozen and dried fruit in moderation is ok, but it can be full of sugar – and because it’s more condensed than a regular piece of fruit, you want to eat more of it. This isn’t a snack you should just mindlessly eat in front of the TV. Put your own together with nuts you like, raisings, and even a few dark chocolate pieces.
Protein Cakes
If you want to feel fuller for longer and get your protein intake up, there’s no better way to do it than with protein cakes. You can make mug cakes, using milk, a little baking powder, a scoop of protein, and pretty much any other flavorings you like. Just mix it up and make sure you don’t overcook it as the texture will go pretty gross. Of course there are all kinds of other protein treats you can make, such as protein cupcakes in the oven, protein brownies, and even your own protein bars.
Acai Dessert Bowls
If you’ve never had one of those colorful bowls that you’ve no doubt seen on instagram, you’re missing out. It’s like a banana split, but with more nutrients and antioxidants. You can get really creative with these, but a couple of nice ingredients include acai berry puree, dark chocolate chips, coconut shavings, and yogurt. You can even use protein powder in this if you like (only if you’re sure it won’t ruin the texture).
